Choro/chorinho trio offers the public the Brazilian popular music style and rhythm. Chorinho means “little cry” in Portuguese. The words “pe-de-cana” (foot of sugar cane) have two different meanings – from the root that makes the popular Brazilian liquor cachaça, to the person that likes the drink and uses it to help with digestion after a large meal of feijoada or barbequed meat. Based in Vancouver, Sambata is a percussion school and musical ensemble that plays a powerful and unique blend of music drawing on the rich traditions of Afro-Cuban and Brazilian popular and folkloric music. Led by Paul Bray, Sambata delivers high energy, inspiring performances in parades, clubs and corporate events throughout the Greater Vancouver area.
